A complete transformation of a two-storey, Grade-II listed flat in London’s Belsize Park, designed to meet the needs of a growing family while blending original architectural features with bold, modern design.
This full refurbishment with side and rear extensions in the heart of Belsize Park transformed a classic Edwardian home into a modern, comfortable family residence. Convert-Construction was commissioned to deliver a design that combined timeless architectural charm with contemporary functionality, creating a warm and nurturing environment for a young family expecting their first child. The project focused on comfort, practicality, and elegance, ensuring every detail supported a peaceful and harmonious home life.
Challenges
The main challenge of this project was delivering a full refurbishment and extension within a strict timeline, as the family was expecting a baby. It was essential to ensure that the process was not only efficient but also peaceful and minimally disruptive. Coordination between trades, precise scheduling, and clear communication were key to maintaining progress while preserving a calm environment for the clients.
Balancing the restoration of period features with the introduction of modern elements required careful craftsmanship. The Edwardian mosaic floor and original fireplace were meticulously restored, while new materials and finishes were chosen to complement the home’s heritage. The result is a seamless blend of old and new, where classic detailing meets contemporary comfort.
